Gossip hounds can kick off 2020 with one heck of a whodunnit: Who did Lady Gaga kiss at midnight on New Year's Eve? The singer and actress was spotted holding hands and locking lips with a mystery man at a New Year's party in Las Vegas, just a few months after posting a social media video entirely devoted to the fact that she was single. The mystery man in question had a beard and wore an untucked button-down shirt and jeans — so that should narrow it down to, I don't know, roughly 70 percent of the men in Las Vegas right now. All Mariah Carey wants for New Year's is… her Twitter account back. As 2019 came to a close, someone managed to hack Carey's Twitter account, sending shout-outs to their buddies — and some rather off-color tweets about Eminem — to Carey's 21.4 million Twitter followers. Carey has since regained access to her account, but maybe her New Year's resolution can be setting up two-factor authentication. [Variety]

Pro tip: If you're going to congratulate a celebrity on her engagement, make sure it's the right celebrity. That's the odd situation faced by Destiny's Child alum Michelle Williams, who did not get engaged to Hamilton director Thomas Kail over the holidays, and four-time Oscar-nominated actress Michelle Williams, who did. Still, the Destiny's Child singer took the whole thing in stride after receiving messages intended for the actress, saying that "congrats are certainly in order" for her name twin. (Unfortunately, neither Adam Scott the actor nor Adam Scott the golfer have commented on the mix-up.) [Entertainment Weekly]

Over the course of his filmmaking career, Quentin Tarantino has earned a reputation for reviving the careers of numerous actors who had otherwise faded from the silver screen. And if you're an actor who wants in on that sweet action for yourself, you might as well try it the old-fashioned way: Write Tarantino a letter. The director, who refuses to carry a cell phone, revealed that Margot Robbie, Dakota Fanning and Lena Dunham — all of whom appear in his movie Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood — originally contacted him via mail to say they wanted to work with him. And if you really want to get Tarantino's attention, why not go full Luddite and send him a telegram? [Page Six]

Back in 2016, Jared Leto debuted as the Joker in the critically-maligned Suicide Squad, playing the abusive boyfriend of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn. But with Robbie set to return to the big-screen as the fan-favorite antihero in next year's Birds of Prey, Robbie says Harley Quinn has kicked the Joker to the curb for good — and with it, Jared Leto's take on the character. In an interview, Robbie said that Leto doesn't appear in the film at all — "even as a cameo" — which will surely be a disappointment to the dozen or so people who even remember that Jared Leto once played the Joker.
